Zach Benson scored twice, including a first period shorthanded goal, to lead the Winnipeg ICE to an 8-3 victory over the Brandon Wheat Kings at the ICE Cave inside Wayne Fleming Arena.

Connor McClennon also scored shorthanded while Conor Geekie, Aiden Oiring, Skyler Bruce and Vladislav Shilo rounded out the Winnipeg attack as their record improved to 18-1.

Rylan Roersma had two goals for Brandon, Nolan Ritchie the other as the Wheat Kings drop to 0-4 this season against the ICE in the Battle of Manitoba presented by Taylor McCaffery Lawyers.

Between the pipes, Daniel Hauser improved his record to 14-0 this season while Nicholas Jones dropped to 0-5.

Brandon outshot Winnipeg 35-33.

The ICE return to action Thursday night, 7:00 at the ICE Cave inside Wayne Fleming Arena against Connor Bedard and the Regina Pats. The two teams will also play Saturday night at 8:00.
