WINNIPEG M.B. - The Winnipeg Ice take down the Brandon Wheat Kings Saturday night by a score of 8-3.
The game didn't start well for the Wheat Kings who allowed the first goal shorthanded after Connor McClennon jumped the faceoff and scored on a breakaway to make it 1-0. It wouldn't take long for the Wheat Kings to find the equalizer with Nolan Ritchie batting the puck out of mid air tying the game up on the powerplay. The Ice would score yet another shorthanded goal with Zach Benson left all alone to restore the one goal lead for the Ice with under 8 minutes remaining in the first. The Wheat Kings would tie it up again with Rylen Roersma collecting a Nate Danielson rebound to score his 4th of the season making it 2-2 heading into the dressing room.
The Winnipeg Ice took over the game in the second period. First , Conor Geekie would score off a top corner shot from the left side circle to make it 3-2 only one minute into the period. Then, 5 minutes later Zach Benson would score his 2nd of the game during a 4 on 4 stretch to give the Ice their first two goal lead of the game. The Wheat Kings would surrender a back breaking goal late when they maintained allowed an Aiden Oiring goal to give the Ice a 5-2 lead heading to the 3rd period.
The Ice would add three more goals in the 3rd period to make it 8-2. The Wheat Kings would score a late powerplay goal from Rylen Roersma to make it 8-3. The goal would be Roersma's 2nd of the game and 5th of the season. The Ice would kill the clock the remainder of the game to skate off with an 8-3 victory.

The Wheat Kings now turn their attention to their Central Division road trip which begins Tuesday night in Swift Current when they take on the Broncos.
