Bakersfield Condors News Release

Long Beach, Calif. – Jerome Marois' power play goal at 4:45 of the third period broke a tie game and give the Long Beach Ice Dogs a 4-3 win over the Bakersfield Condors in front of 1,434 fans at the Long Beach Arena in Long Beach on Sunday evening.

Long Beach took the lead in this one, with Nick Ganga blasting home a shot while shorthanded for the 1-0 lead at 8:53. Ice Dogs leading scorer John McNabb slipped home his eighth of the season at 12:38 to make it 2-0. Paul Rosebush pulled the Condors within a goal later in the first, recording his second of the season on a breakaway to cut the lead to one. But the Ice Dogs extended the lead back to a pair, with rookie Cameron Breitkruz's first career goal at 17:25, making it 3-1. D Jimmy Drolet left the game in the first with an injured shoulder and didn't return, forcing Bakersfield to play the rest of the night with just four blueliners.

In the second, the Condors power play connected. Denis Ladouceur redirected a shot from Jani Virtanen for his sixth of the season to make it 3-2 at 10:15. It was the fifth straight game with a goal for the Condors power play unit. That was the only goal of the period, but it wasn't for a lack of effort. Peter Hirsch stopped 18 Long Beach shots in the Condors goal, while Bakersfield put 13 shots of their own on net for a season-high 31 combined shots in the period.

The two teams swapped power play tallies early in the final frame. Rosebush tied the score at 3-3 with his second of the game, chipping in a rebound at 1:33. Jerome Marois notched his second of the season at 4:45 to regain the lead, 4-3. That would be the final score, with Hirsch taking the loss despite stopping 40 shots. The two teams combined for 78 shots in the game, while Bakersfield dropped to 7-8-2 on the season.

The Condors return to home ice this Saturday, November 29th for the legendary Teddy Bear Toss Night. Game time is 7:00pm against the Alaska Aces.
