Fresno Falcons News Release

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – The Bakersfield Condors, behind three power play goals and several spectacular saves from goaltender Peter Hirsch, defeated the Fresno Falcons on Saturday, 3-1. Fresno falls to .500 on the season at 7-7-1 and into fifth place in the Pacific Division.

The Condors scored the lone goal of the first period when Jimmy Drolet walked down the slot and beat Fresno goaltender Nolan Schaefer to the blocker side on the power play at 7:11.

Fresno managed to tie the game with a power play goal of its own at 8:17 of the second. John Wroblewski found Greg Bullock through the right circle, who beat for the only time of the night Hirsch for his seventh of the season. The remainder of the frame featured several sprawling saves from Hirsch and high emotions from both teams as the Condors took their second lead of the game late in the period. Skating with a four-on-three man advantage, Paul Willett fed Johan Astrom low in the slot who went top shelf for his team-leading seventh, giving Bakersfield a 2-1 lead heading to the third.

Fresno stays on the road next week as they will play the Idaho Steelheads for the first time since defeating Idaho four games to two in last season's Taylor Cup Semi-Finals. The Falcons play at the Bank of America Centre in Boise on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday to finish a stretch of 16 of 18 away from home to begin the campaign.
