Mississippi 'Kean' to Sign Rookie

BILOXI, Miss. – Mississippi Sea Wolves coach and director of hockey operations Bob Woods announced today that the team has signed free agent defenseman Jason Kean.

Kean, 24, enters his rookie season of professional hockey, becoming Mississippi's only first-year player. The 5-foot-11, 195-pound native of Nanaimo, British Columbia played four years at Union College of the Eastern College Athletic Conference. Last season in 35 games, Kean tallied two goals and finished with 11 points along with 59 penalty minutes.

Kean will be in the lineup today wearing number 20, as the Sea Wolves host the Texas Wildcatters at 4:05 p.m. at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum. Mississippi's Louis Dumont needs two points to tie Rod Taylor for the all-time ECHL scoring lead.

The game promotions for today's tilt, includes the "Party Four-Pack" consisting of four tickets, four hot dogs and four soft drinks, starting at only $44. It's also the 3rd annual Nextel/Sea Wolves Howl Against Hunger. The first 2,000 fans that bring canned goods or non-perishables for the Back Bay Mission, will receive a "Howl Towel."
