Ice Bats Announce 06-07 Schedule
August 7, 2006 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Austin Ice Bats News Release
The Austin Ice Bats in conjunction with the Central Hockey League today released the team's game schedule for the 2006-07 season, the Ice Bats' first at Chaparral Ice Arena. The team's 64-game schedule includes 32 home games at Chaparral Ice Arena, with 24 of those games to be played on Friday or Saturday nights. (A complete version of the schedule is attached to this release). The Ice Bats will open their 11th season on Saturday, October 21st against the defending Northern Conference champion Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs. Just over half-34 of the 64 games will be played against division rivals Corpus Christi, Laredo and Rio Grande Valley. The schedule also features seven home games in March, a month when the Ice Bats historically would have played entirely on the road, due to the occupation of the Travis County Expo Center by the Star of Texas Fair and Rodeo. Start times for home games will remain 7:30pm Thursday through Saturday, 4:00pm on Sundays.
"Flexibility in scheduling was a major reason for our move to Chaparral Ice Arena," said Ice Bats President Jeff Buch, "and that has paid off with an extremely attractive schedule for our fans. With 30 of our 32 home games on weekend dates, and 20 home games after the first of January, it might be the most attractive home schedule in our history."
The all-new Chaparral Ice Arena is located on I-35 between Howard Lane and Wells Branch Parkway. Season tickets and corporate partnerships for the '06-'07 campaign are currently available, with full-season and half-season ticket plans on sale now. Fans may call the Ice Bats ticket office at (512) 927-PUCK, or log onto the team's website at www.icebats.com for more information.
