ICE Acquire Sward

The Winnipeg ICE have acquired defenceman Graham Sward from the Spokane Chiefs in exchange for defenceman Jaren Brinson, a first round pick in the 2023 WHL Prospects Draft, a third round pick in the 2025 WHL Prospects Draft as well as a second round pick and fifth round pick both in the 2026 WHL Prospects Draft.

Sward, 19, from Abbotsford, British Columbia, registered four assists in eight games along with 10 penalty minutes this season with the Chiefs

Sward is a fifth round pick, 146th overall by the Nashville Predators in the 2022 NHL Draft.

In 132 career WHL games, the 6'3", 191 pound blueliner registered 66 points (14 goals and 52 assists) along with 68 penalty minutes. He was named an Alternate Captain with the Chiefs this season.

Sward was selected in the first round, 17th overall by the Spokane in the 2018 WHL Prospects Draft.

The ICE roster currently includes two goaltenders, eight defencemen and 14 forwards.
