Hurricanes Recall Manzato

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Carolina Hurricanes of the National Hockey League have recalled Checkers goaltender, Daniel Manzato.

Manzato, 6-foot-1, 178 pounds, hails from Fribourg Goteron, Switzerland and was drafted by the Hurricanes in the fifth round of the 2002 NHL Entry Draft. He played the last four seasons in the Swiss-A league.

The Swiss netminder dressed for two Checkers games this season posting a record of 2-0 while keeping a 2.00 goals against average with a .947 save percentage.

The Checkers began their 15th season of play as a member of the ECHL. The next home game takes place on Nov. 10 against the Mississippi Sea Wolves. In the team's 14-year history, the Checkers have made the playoffs 10 times including three consecutive playoff appearances to date. The Checkers will enter their third season of play at St. Lawrence Homes Home Ice at Charlotte Bobcats Arena this fall. Season tickets are on sale now with full-season packages starting at just $399.
