Salmon Kings' Goldie Named In Glas Co, Player Of The Week

PRINCETON, N.J. - Victoria forward Ash Goldie is the In Glas Co ECHL Player of the Week for Oct. 29-Nov. 4.

The 5-foot-9 and 170-pound Goldie had seven goals, including five on the power play and two game winners, and two assists as the Salmon Kings went 3-0-0 against Bakersfield to lead the West Division at 5-2-0.

The 26 year old started the week recording his first hat trick of the season with two power-play goals and scoring the game-winning goal with 13 seconds remaining in the game to give the Salmon Kings a 3-2 come-from-behind win on Oct. 31.

After scoring a season-high four points with two power-play goals and two assists in a 7-4 win on Nov. 2, he scored two goals in regulation, his third multiple-goal game in a row, and scored in the shootout as the Salmon Kings won 5-4.

The London, Ontario native leads the ECHL with six power-play goals and is tied for the league lead with eight goals while his 11 points in October tied him for sixth.

Goldie, who was chosen to play in the 2005 ECHL All-Star Game, spent the last two seasons playing for Long Beach were he had 111 points (61g-50a) and 46 penalty minutes in 113 regular season games and seven points (2g-5a) and two penalty minutes in seven Kelly Cup Playoff games.

Prior to turning professional Goldie played four seasons at Michigan State University where he had 93 points (37g-56a) and 70 penalty minutes in 160 games.

On behalf of Ash Goldie, a case of pucks will be donated to a Victoria, British Columbia area youth hockey organization by In Glas Co, the exclusive puck supplier for the ECHL. Since beginning its sponsorship of the award in 2000-01, In Glas Co has donated more than 18,000 pucks to youth hockey organizations in ECHL cities.
