
Hurricanes Reassign Riley Nash To Charlotte

RALEIGH, NC - Jim Rutherford, President and General Manager of the National Hockey League's Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the team has reassigned center Riley Nash to the Charlotte Checkers of the American Hockey League (AHL).
Nash, 23, is in his third full professional season and registered three goals, three assists (6 points) and a plus-2 rating in 16 games with the Hurricanes since begin recalled from Charlotte on Feb. 18. Prior to his recall, he had appeared in 50 games with the Checkers, totaling 11 goals and 24 assists (35 points). He still ranks tied for second among Charlotte skaters in assists (24), fourth in points (35) and third in plus/minus (+11).
Born in Consort, Alb., but raised in Kamloops, B.C., Nash (6'1", 191 lbs.) has played 21 career NHL games with the Hurricanes, earning seven points (3g, 4a). He was acquired by Carolina from Edmonton on June 26, 2010, in exchange for a second-round pick in the 2010 NHL Draft. Originally selected by the Oilers in the first round, 21st overall, of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft, Nash completed a three-year career at Cornell University with 102 points (37g, 65a) in 102 games.
