Coyotes Assign Summers to Portland

GLENDALE, ARIZONA - Phoenix Coyotes General Manager Don Maloney announced today that the Coyotes have assigned defenseman Chris Summers to the Portland Pirates, the Coyotes American Hockey League affiliate (AHL).

The 6-foot-2, 209-pound Summers has played in six games with the Coyotes this season. He has also appeared in 47 games with the Pirates in 2012-13 collecting 2-9-11 and 47 PIM. Summers has posted 0-3-3 and 24 PIM in 29 career NHL games.

The 25-year-old native of Ann Arbor, Michigan was originally drafted by the Coyotes in the first round (29th overall) in the 2006 Entry Draft.
