Hurricanes Net 7 in Win over Hitmen

Lethbridge, AB - Taylor Ross netted a hat-trick and added an assist in a first-star performance to lead the Lethbridge Hurricanes past the Calgary Hitmen 7-4 on Saturday night at the ENMAX Centre.

Jordy Bellerive scored twice and chipped in three assists to top all Hurricanes with five points on a night when they clinched home ice advantage in the first round of the 2019 WHL Playoffs. Jackson Shepard and Jake Elmer added the other Lethbridge markers.

Sean Tschigerl, Riley Fiddler-Schultz, James Malm and Vladislav Yeryomenko replied for the Hitmen. For Tschigerl, it was his first career goal in the WHL.

Calgary, playing their seventh game in 11 nights, was outshot 34-28.

The Hitmen, 36-24-5-1 will now get a full five day break before closing the regular season next weekend with a home-and-home set against the Oil Kings. The opener goes at Rogers Place on Saturday, Mar. 16 with the return match Sunday, Mar. 17 at Scotiabank Saddledome. Game time in Calgary is 2:00 p.m. for the Hitmen Player Awards, Fan Appreciation and Sunday Funday presented by Ricky's All Day Grill.
