Medicine Hat Tigers News Release

Medicine Hat, AB - After being tied 2-2 through two periods of the play, the Medicine Hat Tigers were outlasted 5-2 by the Lethbridge Hurricanes.

In the final frame, Taylor Ross scored on the power play before Dylan Cozens scored to give the Hurricanes a 4-2 lead. With less than a minute to play, Tigers goaltender Jordan Hollett had left his net to give the Orange and Black the man advantage. Unfortunately, the Hurricanes won possession of the puck and Nick Henry scored on the empty net to make it a 5-2 game.

In the first frame, the two Highway Three rivals traded goals. Hurricanes' Jordy Bellerive struck first just over five minutes into the game.

Midway through the period, Bryan Lockner carried the puck up on the right side of the ice before passing it to Baxter Anderson to redirect past Hurricanes' netminder Carl Tetachuk. Anderson's goal was his fourth of the season.

Early into the second stanza, Hurricanes' Zachary Cox scored to regain the lead for the home team. Late in the period, the Tigers pushed back on the power play. On a play from Ryan Jevne, James Hamblin fired the puck towards the net and Brett Kemp redirected it in. Kemp's goal was his 28th of the season.

Hollett stopped 26 of 30 shots faced while Tetachuk turned aside 28 of the Tigers' 30 shots.

The Orange and Black are now 32-26-4-2 and they will host the 30-25-4-4 Brandon Wheat Kings Saturday night at the Canalta Centre. The Tigers will be wearing special themed jerseys since it is their RE/MAX Presents the WHL Suits Up with Don Cherry to Promote Organ Donation. The jerseys will all be auctioned off online starting at the 7:30 PM puck drop and ending on Thursday, March 14th at 7:30 PM. All the proceeds raised will go to the local chapter of the Kidney Foundation.
