
Hurricanes Announce Seabrook as Wall of Honour & Celebrity Dinner Guest

LETHBRIDGE, AB - The Lethbridge Hurricanes Hockey Club announced Monday that three-time Stanley Cup Champion and former Hurricanes captain Brent Seabrook will be the lone inductee in the 2024 class of the Hurricanes Wall of Honour while he will also be the headliner guest for the 2024 Celebrity Dinner.
The Hurricanes will induct Seabrook into the Wall of Honour on Friday, January 26th when they welcome the Regina Pats at the ENMAX Centre. Seabrook will then be the special guest for the Celebrity Dinner at the Sandman Signature Lethbridge Lodge the following night on Saturday, January 27th.
Seabrook will be inducted into the Player Category. After being selected in the first-round (6th overall) by the Hurricanes in the 2000 Western Hockey League Prospects Draft, Seabrook went on to play four seasons in Lethbridge from 2001 until 2005 appearing in 264 regular season games totaling 176 points (39g-137a) along with 397 penalty minutes. He added five points (2g-3a) and 12 penalty minutes in nine post-season games with the Hurricanes. Seabrook served as 'Canes captain for three seasons setting a career-high in points as a 19-year-old in 2004-2005 where he collected 54 points (12g- 42a) with 107 penalty minutes and a plus-25 rating while leading the Hurricanes to the post-season.
He was named the 2001-2002 Hurricanes Rookie of the Year. Seabrook was also the 2003-2004 winner of the Hurricanes Fan Favourite Award. The rearguard was also named a three-time Hurricanes Defenceman of the Year recipient in 2002- 2003, 2003-2004 and 2004-2005 while also being named the 'Canes Most Valuable Player in 2004-2005. He sits 11th all-time in games played by a Hurricane (264) while sitting 14th all-time in franchise assists (137) and is third all-time in franchise scoring by a defenceman.
"I'm super excited to get back to Lethbridge and back to the rink and watch a game there; it's been a long time since I've been back, so it's going to be exciting to get back there," said Seabrook. "It's very special and it's going to be really cool and exciting. Junior hockey is the best, it's a lot of fun and I have a lot of great memories from my time in Lethbridge."
During his time with the Hurricanes, Seabrook represented Canada at the 2003 Hlinka-Gretzky Cup capturing gold. He also played twice with the National Junior Team earning a silver medal in 2004 before winning gold in 2005 in Grand Forks, North Dakota. He was selected by the Chicago Blackhawks in the first-round (14th overall) in the 2003 National Hockey League Entry Draft. He also represented Canada Pacific at the World Under-17 Hockey Challenge in 2002.
The Tsawwassen, British Columbia product went on to play 15 seasons in the NHL with the Blackhawks appearing in 1,114 regular season games totaling 464 points (103g-361a) along with 661 penalty minutes. He added an additional 59 points (20g-39a) and 83 penalty minutes in 123 career playoff games. Seabrook won the Stanley Cup three times with the Blackhawks in 2010, 2013 and 2015 while appearing in five Western Conference finals.
Internationally during his professional career, Seabrook represented Canada at the 2006 World Championships in Latvia and at the 2010 Winter Olympic Games in Vancouver winning a gold medal on home soil. During the 2010 Olympics, he collected one assist in seven games along with two penalty minutes and a plus-2 rating.
Seabrook will become the 11th former Hurricanes player to be inducted into the Player Category of the Hurricanes Wall of Honour. Previous Wall of Honour inductees include:

Brent Seabrook will officially be inducted into the Player Category of the Hurricanes Wall of Honour with a pre-game ceremony on Friday, January 26th when the 'Canes welcome the Regina Pats. The Celebrity Dinner with Brent Seabrook will take place on Saturday, January 27th at the Sandman Signature Lethbridge Lodge beginning with cocktails at 6:00pm. The event will include dinner, a cash bar, and live and silent auctions throughout the evening. Ticket information will be released at a later date.
The Hurricanes return to the ENMAX Centre for a pair of home games this week when they welcome the Calgary Hitmen on Wednesday before hosting the Red Deer Rebels on Friday - both games at 7:00pm.
