Aberdeen, MD - Trent Howard pitched six innings of relief and the Aberdeen IronBirds won their second straight game against the Batavia Muckdogs, 4-0.

Aberdeen scored in the bottom of the first inning off of Muckdog starter Jonathan Cornelius. Sammie Starr and Mychal Givens had back-to-back one out singles. After Starr stole third, Wynston Sawyer batted him home with an RBI single. While Connor Narron was batting, Sawyer got into a rundown between first and second, allowing Givens to score, making it 2-0 Aberdeen after one inning.

The IronBirds struck again in the bottom of the fifth. Dudley Leonora hit a single to right field. He came around to score when Kyle Hoppy hit an RBI single to left center field. Aberdeen led 3-0 after five innings of play.

The IronBirds scored their final run of the game in the bottom of the sixth. Starr worked a leadoff walk and then stole second. He moved up to third and then scored when Sawyer grounded into an RBI fielder's choice, increasing the lead to 4-0.

Ryan Berry got the start for the IronBirds. He pitched two innings as expected and allowed only one hit. Howard came on in the third inning. In his six innings, he allowed just two hits and three walks, while striking out nine Muckdog batters. He improves to 2-1 on the season.

Cornelius took the loss for the Muckdogs. He pitched five innings, allowed five hits, three (earned) runs, walked one and struck out six.

The IronBirds are off tomorrow, before beginning a three game set with the Jamestown Jammers in Jamestown, New York. Brandon Erbe and Luis Lebron are expected to each pitch an inning at the start of Wednesday's game for the IronBirds.
