Cutters Rally for First Road Sweep

The Williamsport Crosscutters used a four-run eighth inning on Monday afternoon to defeat the Connecticut Tigers 4-3 and earn their first road sweep of the season.
The Tigers notched the game's first run in the bottom of the first, as Dean Green's two-out RBI double to left-center gave his team a 1-0 lead. They tacked on another run in the second inning, as Javier Azcona doubled and scored on a single by Patrick Leyland.
The score stayed 2-0 all the way until the eighth inning, as Tigers starter Tommy Collier and reliever Ryan Woolley combined to shut out the visiting bats through seven frames.
With Connecticut's Jeff Barfield on the mound in the eighth, Kelly Dugan blasted a two-run homer to right to tie the game at 2-2. Two batters later, Maikel Franco ripped an RBI double to left field to score Brock Stassi and put Williamsport ahead 3-2. Cody Asche then drilled an RBI double to center to score Franco and give the Cutters a 4-2 lead.
The Cutters turned it over to Gabriel Arias to close out the game in the ninth. Arias allowed a run on three hits to make it 4-3 game, but struck out Matt Perry to strand two runners and seal the victory.
