Houston Dynamo midfielders Boniek García, Luis Garrido to join Honduras national team for upcoming g

HOUSTON (Thursday, Nov. 6, 2014) - Houston Dynamo midfielders Boniek García and Luis Garrido have been called up the Honduras national team by head coach Hernan Medford for upcoming friendly matches against Japan and China.

Honduras will face Japan on Friday, Nov. 14 at Toyota Stadium in Tokyo before meeting China on Tuesday, Nov. 18 at Tianhe Stadium in Guangzhou, China.

García, 30, started both games for Honduras in friendly matches against Mexico and the United States last month. The midfielder appeared in three games (two starts) at the 2014 World Cup and has 97 career appearances for Honduras. The Tegucigalpa native has 12 goals and 14 assists in 77 career appearances with the Dynamo, including playoffs.

Garrido, 24, played 90 minutes for Honduras against Mexico and the U.S. in October and also started two games for Honduras the 2014 World Cup. The Juticalpa native has 24 caps for Honduras, including 11 starts in qualifying matches for the 2014 World Cup. Garrido joined the Dynamo on loan from C.D. Olimpia on July 25 and the defensive midfielder started 11 games in his first season with the club.
