CARSON, Calif. (Thursday, Nov. 6, 2014) - The LA Galaxy and LA Galaxy Foundation kick off the holiday season with a toy drive starting this Sunday, Nov. 9 during the Galaxy's match against Real Salt Lake. All of the toys collected will benefit A Place Called Home (APCH). APCH is an organization in South Central Los Angeles that encourages youth to take ownership of the quality and direction of their lives through programs in education, arts and well-being.
All toy donations can be dropped off at the main gates of StubHub Center or at the LA Galaxy Foundation booth during Sunday's match. In addition, donations can also be dropped off at the LA Galaxy offices located at StubHub Center on weekdays from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. PT until Monday, Dec. 8.
The LA Galaxy Foundation will provide a raffle ticket for every fan who donates a new toy, giving fans the opportunity to win signed LA Galaxy memorabilia in exchange for their donation. In addition to new toys, fans can also make cash donations that will be used to purchase new toys for A Place Called Home. Cash donations are also welcome.
All of the toys collected will benefit A Place Called Home for the Holidays, an annual event held on Dec. 20 2014 that benefits approximately 3,000 youth in Los Angeles who come to APCH to receive a gift this holiday season.
The LA Galaxy Foundation Toy Drive is part of a larger initiative with APCH this holiday season as the LA Galaxy Foundation and Herbalife will jointly donate $10,000 to help provide a holiday meal for the families of APCH on Thanksgiving. LA Galaxy staff, players, and Alumni along with Herbalife employees will help serve Thanksgiving dinner on Wednesday November 26.
