Houston Dynamo FC News Release
HOUSTON - The Houston Dynamo FC acquired defender Daniel Steres from the LA Galaxy in exchange for Houston's natural third round pick in the 2022 MLS SuperDraft, both clubs announced today. The Galaxy will retain a portion of Steres' salary budget charge in 2022.
"We are thrilled to welcome Daniel and his family to our club," Dynamo general manager Pat Onstad said. "Daniel brings valuable MLS experience to our group and models the competitive and selfless character traits that we want in every player that we bring to Houston."
The MLS veteran has appeared in 140 games for the Galaxy and led Los Angeles to the Audi MLS Cup Playoffs in 2016 and 2019. The Galaxy reached the conference semifinals in 2016 and 2019 and Steres appeared in all five games for Los Angeles.
Steres joined the Galaxy after two seasons with LA Galaxy II in the USL Championship from 2014-2015. The Burbank, Calif. native led the team to the 2015 USL Western Conference Championship and earned back-to-back honors as the Defender of the Year.
The 31-year-old is a product of San Diego State University and was selected by Chivas USA in the 2012 MLS Supplemental Draft.
With the addition of Steres, the Dynamo have (25) players under contract ahead of the 2022 season.
