
Hot Shooting Stars Take Down Clippers

SALT LAKE CITY - The Salt Lake City Stars, the official NBA G League affiliate of the Utah Jazz, defeated the Agua Caliente Clippers 119-99 at Toyota Arena tonight. The Stars collected their eighth consecutive road victory, ranking among the top five for longest road winning streaks in NBA G League history, per the Elias Sports Bureau.
Seven players scored in double figures for the Stars, led by Trevon Bluiett's 18 points off the bench, including 6-of-9 (.667) from three-point range. Utah Jazz assignment player Nigel Williams-Goss filled the stat sheet with 15 points, eight assists and four rebounds, while Miye Oni, also on assignment from the Jazz, added 17 points, shooting 4-of-6 (.667) from beyond the arc. Jazz two-way player Jarrell Brantley (16 points and seven rebounds), Rodney Pryor (16 points), Paul White (13 points) and Isaac Haas (10 points) also scored in double figures for the Stars.
The Clippers were paced by LA Clippers two-way player Johnathan Motley, who tallied a game-high 22 points on 8-of-12 (.667) shooting to go with five rebounds and three assists. LA Clippers two-way player Amir Coffey posted 17 points, four rebounds and three assists, while LA Clippers assignee Mfiondu Kabengele recorded 16 points and seven rebounds.
Salt Lake City opened the game on a 19-6 run and outscored Agua Caliente 29-16 in the opening period. The Clippers trimmed the Stars' lead to seven points with 10:19 left to play in the third quarter, but Salt Lake City withstood Agua Caliente's push as they outscored the Clippers 62-52 in the second half to secure the 20-point victory.
Salt Lake City outshot Agua Caliente from the field (.562-.434) and three-point range (.576-.303). The Stars held the advantage in assists (29-21), points in the paint (48-38), steals (10-8) and turnovers (14-16), while Agua Caliente grabbed more rebounds (37-34), blocked more shots (5-0) and tallied more second chance points (15-7).
The Stars will return home to begin a three-game homestand on Friday, Jan. 10, against the Memphis Hustle (Memphis Grizzlies affiliate) at 7 p.m. (MT) at Bruin Arena. The game will be streamed live on NBAGLeague.com.
