Greensboro, North Carolina - Despite striking out 11 on Sunday, the Bowling Green Hot Rods (23-15) lost to the Greensboro Grasshoppers (17-21) thanks to a walk-off homer in the ninth, 4-3 in the series finale. Monday is a league-wide off day before the Hot Rods begin a six-game homestand against the Brooklyn Cyclones at Bowling Green Ballpark.
The Hot Rods jumped out to an early lead, loading the bases in the first against Grasshoppers starter Jared Jones. Ronny Simon led off the game with a single in a full-count and went to second when Alika Williams singled. Tanner Murray was hit by a pitch to load the bases and, with one out, Logan Driscoll walked to force Simon in from third, giving the Hot rods a 1-0 lead. Alexander Ovalles singled to right, plating Williams to make it 2-0 and Murray scored when Beau Brundage grounded into a force out, extending the Hot Rods edge to 3-0.
BG wouldn't score again and Greensboro, specifically Matthew Gorski, took advantage. Gorski homered three times on Sunday, tying the game in the fourth and hitting a solo walk-off shot to lead off the ninth. Greensboro solidified a series split with the 4-3 win.
