BlueClaws Hit Three Sunday Homers But Fall 7-4

WILMINGTON, DE - The BlueClaws hit three home runs on Sunday in Wilmington, but it wasn't enough as the Blue Rocks picked up a 7-4 Sunday win to take four of six in the series.

The BlueClaws (13-24) finished 4-8 on their 12 game road trip and return home to take on Greenville beginning Tuesday night at ShoreTown Ballpark. The Blue Rocks improved to 20-16 with the win on Sunday.

Omar Meregildo opened the scoring with a first inning RBI single off Matt Russell. Onix Vega added an RBI single to put the Blue Rocks up 2-0 in the second.

The BlueClaws got on the board in the third, getting back to back home runs from Nicolas Torres and Uziel Viloria. For each player, it was their first home run of the season. Viloria's home run came in his first BlueClaws at bat after he was added to the roster on Friday.

Wilmington, however, re-took the lead for good in the bottom of the third on a two run home run by Meregildo, his fifth of the season.

Johan Rojas homered in the fifth for Jersey Shore, his first of the year, but Wilmington added three more. Darren Baker doubled in two in the sixth and Vega singled home a run in the seventh. Casey Martin added an RBI single for the BlueClaws in the eighth inning.

Matt Russell (0-4) took the loss, allowing four runs in five innings of work. Gilberto Chu (1-2) gave up one run in 2.1 innings and earned his first win of the season.

Baron Radcliff, who drew three walks on Saturday, drew three more on Sunday.

The BlueClaws return home on Tuesday and will play 12 games in 13 days, six against Greenville and is against Brooklyn.
