Brainerd Lakes Area Lunkers News Release

The Brainerd Lakes Area Lunkers have scored a combined 37 runs during their current 4-game winning streak. It is not just one guy hitting the ball; the entire lineup has contributed.

That was the case on Sunday at Stewart C. Mills Field as the Lunkers put together a six run Bottom of the 1st in an 8-4 win over the Duluth Huskies.

Tyler Wampler, the Lunker leadoff hitter who failed to get a hit in his first three games, got his first hit last night, and added three today, picking up an RBI in the process.

In the Bottom of the 1st inning, after Tyler Wampler scored on a Fielder's Choice, Ryan Abrahamson would double to bring in Kyle Crocker, and move Derek Hansen over to third. Jon Crist would reach on a walk to load the bases for Steven Brault. His single brought in Derek Hansen. Then Phil Imholte came up with a big single that brought in Abrahamson and Crist. The Lunkers would add one more run on the Wampler single that drove in Steven Brault.

Joe Willman got the start for the Lunkers and pitched efficiently, going six innings, giving up four hits and an unearned run, while also recording six strikeouts.

With the win, the Lunkers move to (4-1) on the season. The four-game homestand continues on Monday as the Lunkers take on the St. Cloud River Bats. First pitch is at 7:05 at Stewart C. Mills Field.
