
Horne Hammers First Double-A Homer in M-Braves' Extra-Inning Win Against Pensacola

PENSACOLA, FL - The Mississippi Braves (60-72, 27-37) took the series opener off the Pensacola Blue Wahoos (76-55, 35-28) by a score of 5-4 in 10 innings at Blue Wahoos Stadium on Tuesday night.
The M-Braves snapped a seven-game Pensacola win streak and won their ninth in the last 13 games. There are five games remaining in the 2023 regular season.
In the second inning, Cody Milligan singled to center field to tie the game at 1-1. Milligan extended his hitting streak to a season-high eight games.
Trailing 3-1 in the sixth, Jesse Franklin V reached on an infield single that bounced off the pitcher's glove. Bryson Horne took advantage, blasting his first Double-A home run to right field to tie the game. Horne smashed the ball at 109 miles per hour and 403 feet.
Cal Conley homered to right field to put the M-Braves ahead 4-3 in the seventh. The home run marked the M-Braves' first lead of the night.
Peyton Williams tossed a pair of shutout innings in the fourth and fifth with three strikeouts. Trey Riley followed with two scoreless innings. Drake Baldwin notched his fourth straight multi-hit game, going 2-for-5 with a pair of singles.
Cody Morrissette homered on the first pitch in the bottom of the ninth to tie the game at 4-4.
In the top of the 10th, Drew Campbell stole third base and scored on a wild pitch to retake the lead at 5-4. Campbell scored the winning run in two walk-off wins against Tennessee last week. Brooks Wilson rebounded from the home run and struck out the side to leave the tying run on third base.
The second game of the series is on Wednesday night at Blue Wahoos Stadium. RHP Daniel Martinez (0-2, 5.56) will make the start Mississippi while RHP Ike Burton (0-0, --) will start for Pensacola. The first pitch is at 6:35 pm CT, with coverage starting 15 minutes before on 102.1 The Box, MiLB First Pitch App, and Bally Live.
