Boise, Idaho - Brian Mundell crushed a two-run third inning double that tied the game but the Hawks were unable to overcome an early deficit as they fell to the Hillsboro Hops on Tuesday night.

The Hops jumped on Hawks starting pitcher, Javier Palacios in the first inning and scored three runs after the first four batter reached base.

The Hawks got one run back in the bottom half of the inning on a Terry McClure RBI single before tying the game at 3-3 in the third inning when Brian Mundell ripped a two-run double that one-hopped the right field wall.

The Hops tacked on one run in the sixth inning before plating three runs in the seventh inning, capped off by a Stephen Dezzi RBI bloop single that pushed the lead to 7-3.

Tyler Follis and Nate Causey each added RBI singles and the Hops added two runs of their as they took the game by a final of 9-5.

The Hawks (14-19) and the Hops (19-14) will face off again tomorrow night at Memorial Stadium for game two of this three game series. First pitch will be at 6:45 p.m.

Notes: Angel Lezama picked up his third loss of the season... Tyler Follis entered for Terry McClure and hit an RBI single... Mundell raised his RBI total to 36... The Hawks went 3 for 14 with runners in scoring position.
