Spokane Indians News Release
SPOKANE, Wash. - Sherman Lacrus hit a game-tying, two-run homer in the ninth inning to force extras, and Connor McKay knocked in the game-winning run in the 10th inning and the Spokane Indians overcame a five-run deficit to top the Everett AquaSox 7-6 in front of 4,446 fans at Avista Stadium on Tuesday night. It was Home Runs for Hope Night, presented by Goodwill Industries and 103.1 KCDA.
Jamie Potts and Darius Day both drew free passes in the extra frame, setting the table for McKay's heroics. The Indians left fielder drove a fastball from Everett pitcher Kyle Wilcox to left field, giving Potts enough time to round third and score the winning run. McKay finished 2-for-4 and scored one run.
Omarlin Lopez earned his fourth win of the year by throwing a perfect 10th inning.
Day showed great plate presence, drawing four walks on the evening. He finished 1-for-2 with an RBI and run scored. Dylan Moore hit his 19th double of the season to lead off the bottom half of the sixth. Moore also stole his 13th base of the season, and finished with two hits. With the bases loaded in the seventh, Lacrus singled home Potts.
Spokane starter Luke Lanphere held the AquaSox hitless through his first three innings pitched, striking out three in the process. Jordan Cowan garnered up a hit to lead off the fourth inning. Lanphere finished his outing with six innings, four hits and two runs. He also struck out three batters.
Spokane's newest roster addition, Jacob Shortslef, made his Indians debut in the seventh. He tossed one innings and gave up four runs on two hits.
