Vancouver Canadians News Release

(Gesa Stadium - Pasco, WA) - Canadians LHP Evan Smith couldn't escape the bottom of the 1st inning and Vancouver left 12 runners on-base as the Tri-City Dust Devils put a major damper on the C's playoff hopes with an 8-6 victory on Tuesday night. The loss, keeps Vancouver four games back of North Division leading Everett with just five games to play.

Canadians pitching struggled early walking nine Dust Devils over the first five innings as Tri-City took advantage with a four-run bottom of the 1st inning which chased LHP Evan Smith who allowed four earned runs early. RHP Ryan Cook allowed three runs (two earned) over this three innings of relief but exited with the Canadians down 7-1.

Vancouver's offense would get a gift from Tri-City in the top of the 6th inning as LHP Corey Kimber allowed four runs to the Canadians that included an RBI triple off the bat of LF Connor Panas. Kimber would walk five in the inning and yet escaped further damaged then the four runs he allowed as he got C Ryan Hissey and RF Sean Hurley to pop-out consecutively to leave the bases loaded.

Notes: Canadians LHP Dan Young went three innings allowing one-run to keep Vancouver within reach... 3B Justin Atkinson went 2-for-5 to bring his season average to .299... Vancouver's offense struck out 13 times in the loss.
