Boise, Idaho - Steven Leonard provided a two-run single and three Hawks pitchers combined to give up four hits as the Hawks shutout the Hillsboro Hops on Wednesday night by a score of 6-0.
David Hill took the mound for the Hawks and gave up three hits over four scoreless innings pitched with three strikeouts.
The Hawks got the scoring going early, plating two runs in the first inning off RBI hits from Jensen Park and Terry McClure.
Park added another RBI in the fifth inning before the Hawks broke it open in the sixth inning, scoring three runs kicked off by a Scott Burcham RBI single and capped off by Steven Leonard two-run single that gave the Hawks a 6-0 lead.
Drasen Johnson and Logan Cozart combined for the final five shutout innings and the Hawks evened up the series at one game apiece.
The Hawks (15-19) and the Hops (19-15) will meet tomorrow night at Memorial Stadium for the rubber match of this three game series. First pitch is set for 6:45 p.m.
Notes: Jensen Park went 2 for 4 with two RBI... Marcos Derkes made a miraculous catch where he went diving over the bullpen wall and landed face first out of play. He would remain in the game... Derkes stole his 19th base of the season... Drasen Johnson picked up his second win of the season after pitching three shutout innings of one hit ball.
