
Four-Run First Inning Spurs Dust Devils Win

Tri-City Dust Devils News Release
The Tri-City Dust Devils took a 4-0 lead in the first inning and never relinquished it, as they would go on to beat the Vancouver Canadians 8-6 on Tuesday night at Gesa Stadium. Six different Tri-City hitters had an RBI in the victory.
Catcher Austin Allen and center fielder Rod Boykin led the way for the Dust Devils' (15-18 Second Half, 37-34 Overall) offense. Allen went 2-for-5 and had an RBI and scored a run. Boykin went 2-for-3 and drove in a run with a sacrifice fly.
Starter Emmanuel Ramirez (1-1) was fantastic while earning his first win with Tri-City. Ramirez went five innings and allowed just one run on four hits. He struck a season-high seven Canadians hitters.
Dust Devils closer Phil Maton collected his sixth save of the season for Tri-City. Maton struck out three Vancouver hitters and left two stranded as he pitched a scoreless ninth inning.
The Dust Devils chased Vancouver (15-18 Second Half, 31-40 Overall) starting pitcher Evan Smith (2-4) after just 2/3 of an inning. Smith would earn the loss for the Canadians, allowing four runs on four hits and two walks.
Designated hitter Gunnar Heidt had a game-high two RBIs and went 2-for-4 for the Canadians.
Tri-City and Vancouver will play the second game of this three game set at 7:15 p.m. Wednesday night at Gesa Stadium.
