Boise Hawks News Release

Hillsboro, Oregon - Kevin Padlo carried his hot hitting through the All-Star break but it was not enough as the Hawks dropped the first of three games against the Hillsboro Hops on Thursday night.

Logan Sawyer took the mound and the loss for the Hawks as the Hops got on the board first, putting up two run in the second inning on a Sergio Alcantara two-run double.

In the third inning, Brian Carroll scored on a wild pitch, making the score 2-1 but that would be the closest the Hawks would get as the Hops would never trail on the evening, scoring in four consecutive innings and taking a 7-2 lead after the sixth.

Brian Mundell smacked a two-run double in the seventh inning to pull the score to 7-4 but the Hops would tack on one more in the bottom half of the inning and take the game by a final score of 8-4.

Tyler Mark picked up his first win of the season for the Hops, pitching four innings and giving up two runs - one earned - with five strikeouts.

The Hawks (3-5) and the Hops (4-4) will face off again tomorrow night at 8:15 p.m.

Notes: Kevin Padlo went 2 for 4 with an RBI double and a walk... The Hawks used four pitchers in the final four innings... Padlo added his 24th stolen base and his 29th RBI of the season... Logan Sawyer drops to 2-4 with the loss.
