Rochester Honkers News Release

(Rochester, MN) - The Rochester Honkers were defeated by a final score of 3-0 at the hands of the Mankato MoonDogs in Mankato.

Three hits were all the Honkers offense could muster up in game one of a three game series that comes back to Rochester tomorrow.

Rochester starter Carl O'Neal (St. Mary's TX) pitched 5.0 innings and gave up two runs for the defeat. O'Neal, who struck out five batters and surrendered seven hits, falls to 0-1 this year in five appearances.

Mankato's starter Seth Webster (Nicholls State) was phenomenal in a complete game three-hit shutout. Webster walked just one Honkers batter and struck out eight to pick up his second win of the 2012 summer.

The three hits for the Honkers came off the bats of catcher Matt Halloran (Minnesota), right fielder Justin Parr (Illinois), and left fielder Ben Lahn (Lamar CC).

Reid Roper (Illinois) pitched 2.0 innings in relief of O'Neal and gave a run on two hits and a walk. Nick Williams (Tennessee) pitched a scoreless eighth inning and struck out two in the loss.

The Honkers and MoonDogs will square off for game two tomorrow, June 18th, in Rochester. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PM. The Honkers send to the hill left handed pitcher Jared Miller (Vanderbilt), who will be making his first appearance of the season. The MoonDogs starter will be righty Adam Mott (New Mexico State) who is 0-0 in one start.
