Green Bay Rockers News Release
The Bullfrogs' batters prevailed through rain in Eau Claire on Sunday, putting up 13 runs en route to a victory and a series split against the Express.
The Express struck first in the home half of the first. Casey Gellaspie hit his second home run of the series, a two run shot to the deepest part of the park in center field.
Green Bay answered right away in the second. Clayton Eslick came in to score on a Mike Fischer groundout, and Ransom LaLonde singled home Duncan McAlpine to tie the game at two.
In the third, Eau Claire retook the lead on a Jimmy Allen solo home run. This made the score 3-2.
The game turned into a back and forth battle in the middle innings. Green Bay scored two runs in the fourth to once again claim the lead, including a Duncan McAlpine solo shot to lead off the innings.
The bottom half of the fourth was interrupted by a half-hour-long rain delay. Eau Claire scored two before play was paused and one run after to once again retake the lead 6-4.
The 'Frogs took the lead for good in the fifth inning. With one out, Justin Seager singled and then advanced to third on an Eslick double. Duncan McAlpine then walked to load the bases. After Alex Abrams struck out looking, Mike Fischer was hit by a pitch to bring home a run. Eslick and McAlpine then score on an error by Express pitcher Stephen Carbajal, making the score 7-6.
Green Bay brought home four more in the seventh to extend the lead to 11-6. Seager, Eslick, McAlpine and Brian Celsi scored in the inning. Seager, Eslick, and McAlpine combined to score nine of Green Bay's thirteen runs on the day.
After the Express scored one in the sixth, the 'Frogs added a run in the seventh inning and in the eighth inning to finish off the scoring.
Duncan McAlpine and Mike Fischer each had three RBI in the victory. Harry Stanwyck (1-0) earned the victory for the 'Frogs. DJ Slaton closed out the final three innings and earned a save. The Bullfrogs are now 9-8 on the season.
