New Hampshire Fisher Cats News Release
MANCHESTER, N.H. - The following is a preview of the special events coming to Northeast Delta Dental Stadium during the upcoming series with the Portland Sea Dogs from August 31-September 3.
Chris Carpenter number retirement ceremony - On Wednesday, September 2, we'll recognize the outstanding playing career and contributions to New Hampshire of pitching great Chris Carpenter by retiring his number during a pre-game ceremony. Carpenter will be in attendance as his no. 29 is retired to the right field wall alongside Jackie Robinson's 42 and the 83 of Manchester police officer Michael Briggs.
Cheer Class - The Fisher Cats will host a pre-game cheer class prior to the game on Wednesday, September 2, from 5-6 p.m. The class will be taught by former professional cheerleader and participants will learn a cheer they can perform on the field prior to the game. OPPONENT
The Portland Sea Dogs are currently in last place in the eastern league division. Their record currently stands at 47-81. Entering the final series between the teams, the Fisher Cats have taken 11 of 19 meetings.
SEA DOGS PROSPECTS
Manuel Margot (OF) - Perhaps the crown jewel of the Red Sox farm system, they signed the 20 year-old out of his native Dominican Republic in 2011. After tearing up the Carolina league, he was promoted to Portland where he was batting .249 through his first 51 games. Considered a five-tool prospect, he is ranked third in the Red Sox system.
Sam Travis (1B) - Travis was drafted in the second round of the 2014 draftby the Red Sox and is ranked 12th on the list of top prospects. In 54 games with Portland this season, he has a .291 batting average and 29 RBI's. PROMOTIONS
Monday, August 31: There will be an Atlas Fireworks Presentation following the game.
Tuesday, September 1: The first 1,000 fans to enter the ballpark will receive a free Fisher Cats T-shirt giveaway courtesy of Northeast Delta Dental.
Wednesday, September 2: We'll retire the number of Cy Young Award Winner and New Hampshire native, Chris Carpenter on the field in a pre-game ceremony. The first 2,500 fans to enter the stadium will receive a Chris Carpenter poster courtesy of Spectrum Marketing. There is also a cheer class before the game.
Thursday, September 3: It's our last home game of the season complete with an Atlas Fireworks presentation following the game. We also will have Fan Appreciation Night presented by Subway with the first 1,000 fans receiving a Subway gift card that could be worth $100.
