Musgrave No-Hits Portland for Six as Rock Cats Bite Dogs

New Britain- For six innings, Rock Cats LHP Harrison Musgrave dazzled the New Britain Stadium crowd of 4,548 Thursday night, holding the Portland Sea Dogs hitless, while striking out seven. Starting their last-ever series in New Britain, the Rock Cats then awakened at the plate with timely hitting to win 6-2.

With the Rock Cats' brain trust monitoring his pitch count, Musgrave was removed after six hitless and scoreless innings and the bullpen closed out the game to secure the club's 37th win at home against 29 defeats.

New Britain jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first on RBI singles by Mike Tauchman and Will Swanner and Pat Valaika's sacrifice fly. The Rock Cats added two more runs in the fourth on a two-run double off the right field wall by Joey Wong, who ended up with two hits and two RBI. Noel Cuevas also collected two hits for New Britain.

Musgrave improved to 2-3 with his victory. In his last two starts at Reading and against Portland, the Rockies eighth round draft pick in 2014 has allowed no runs and on three hits and struck out 16 in 11.2 innings pitched.

In their last-ever home stand at New Britain Stadium, the Rock Cats will continue the series against Portland Friday night at 7:05. RH Matt Flemer will start for New Britain, while RH Aaron Wilkerson pitches for the Red Sox affiliate.
