Arkansas Travelers News Release
Frisco, TX - The Arkansas Travelers bested the Frisco RoughRiders 6-2 on Monday night at Dr. Pepper Ballpark.
The Travs scored six runs between the second and fourth innings, capped off by RF D'Arby Myers' first home run in the Angels organization, a three-run blast in the fourth to make it 6-0.
Myers home run cleared the picnic pavilion and the tree line atop the concourse beyond the left field fence.
Arkansas plated two runs in the second on a 1B Michael Snyder RBI double and when 'Riders C Patrick Cantwell dropped an SS Eric Stamets pop up.
They added a run in the third when LF Drew Maggi led off the frame with a double and scored on a 3B Brian Hernandez RBI single. The RBI for Hernandez was his league-leading 54th.
LHP Mike Antonini (W, 1-0) made his first start in the Angels organization for the Travs and tossed 5.1 innings while allowing two runs (both on solo home runs) on five hits with a walk and four strikeouts.
RHP Nate Hyatt pitched 1.2 perfect innings in relief of Antonini and RHP Kyle Winkler did not surrender a hit over the final two frames. Winkler, who was traded from Tampa on June 25, has pitched four no-hit innings for Arkansas.
Myers finished 2-for-4 with the home run and three RBIs.
Hernandez produced his third multi-hit game over his last four with a 2-for-5 night.
A night after mustering four singles without an extra-base hit, Arkansas belted three doubles and the home run.
LHP Frank Lopez (L, 3-2) allowed six runs (five earned) over 3.1 innings for Frisco.
With the win, Arkansas improved to 41-39 on the season and 5-6 in the second half. The Travelers and RoughRiders will play the deciding game of the three-game series on Tuesday at Dr. Pepper Ballpark. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
