Holy Moses! Sounds Add Biblical Bobblehead Doll Giveaways To Exciting 2004 Faith Night Lineup

June 1, 2004 - Pacific Coast League (PCL1)
Nashville Sounds News Release

The Nashville Sounds, who received national recognition and widespread positive response throughout Middle Tennessee last year by organizing the first Christian-based sales program in professional baseball, have added three unique collectible giveaways to their "Faith Night" series this summer.

Biblical figures Moses, Noah, and Samson will all be featured as bobblehead giveaways on the team's Faith Nights during the upcoming weeks, beginning this Friday, June 4 when the first 2,000 fans to enter Greer Stadium for the Sounds' 7 p.m. Faith Night game against Iowa will receive a tablet-bearing replica of Moses.

The religious collectibles are caricature-type representations of the biblical figures: a headband-wearing Moses carries two tablets, the muscular Samson is wearing a "God's Gym" t-shirt, and Noah carries a closed umbrella on his arm.

"The church groups are going crazy over these things," said Sounds' church and youth programs director Brent High. "We've had some churches double the number of people they brought last year and they attribute it to the bobbleheads."

The Sounds drew close to 350 church groups to Greer Stadium last season and anticipate increasing that number to the 550-600 range by the conclusion of this season.

The Faith Nights program, which has expanded to include seven dates this summer at Greer Stadium, offer a great night of baseball, friends and fellowship to families, church groups, singles groups, youth groups, and many similar factions of people.

"The churches have taken these Faith Nights and turned them into events we wouldn't have thought of in the beginning," High said. "It's taken on a life of its own."

In addition to the unique giveaway, the Sounds' first 2004 Faith Night on Friday will feature one of the team's extraordinary post-game fireworks exhibitions as well as a pre-game, 5:00 p.m. concert by local Christian music group Denver & The Mile-High Orchestra.

Formed at Belmont University in Nashville, Denver & the Mile High Orchestra – which returns to Greer Stadium for a second straight year after performing a well-received concert at one of the Sounds' 2003 Faith Nights – is the only nationally-marketed Christian group with a big band style.

The three biblical bobblehead giveaways – Moses this Friday, Samson on July 30, & Noah on August 27 – were quickly sponsored by Donelson Air Conditioning this off-season as the Sounds pieced together their promotional schedule.

"We saw the bobblehead promotion as a creative way to reach our target market of church leaders and members while at the same time supporting the Sounds in a worthwhile, family event," said Donelson Air Conditioning General Manager Dean Fulton.
