SAN ANTONIO - The San Antonio Missions continued their seven-game series with the Corpus Christi Hooks. The two clubs participated in their second doubleheader of the series. Unlike Wednesday night, San Antonio swept both games of the doubleheader. The Missions are back to .500 at 16-16 on the season and have won five consecutive games.

For game one, the pitching matchup was Daniel Camarena for the Missions and Adrain Chaidez for the Hooks. After a scoreless first inning, the Hooks had a runner in scoring position in the top of the second inning. With one out in the frame, Kenedy Corona reached on a bunt single and stole second base. Camarena retired the next two batters to leave Corona stranded.

San Antonio gained the lead in the bottom of the second inning. The Missions plated four runs on three hits. With one out in the frame, Tirso Ornelas drew a walk. Connor Hollis connected on a two-run home run over the left field wall. His first long ball of the season made it a 2-0 game. Luis Aviles Jr. drew a walk and came in to score on a double from Brantley Bell. Lastly, Chandler Seagle drove in Bell with a single to left field. The Missions took a 4-0 lead.

Corpus Christi plated their first run of the game in the top of the third inning. Chad Stevens and Quincy Hamilton began the frame with back-to-back singles. Drew Gilbert grounded into a force out and Stevens came in to score. San Antonio held a 4-1 advantage.

Camarena put together his longest outing of the season so far. In 3.1 innings of work, he allowed one earned run on four hits while striking out four batters. Seth Mayberry took over on the mound during the fourth inning.

The Hooks added their second run in the top of the fourth inning. After Mayberry entered the game, the right-hander allowed a walk to Corona and a single to C.J. Stubbs. Following a strikeout, Chad Stevens singled and Corona came in to score. The Hooks cut the deficit to 4-2.

Corpus Christi continued their comeback attempt by adding a run in the top of the fifth inning. With one out in the frame, Shay Whitcomb doubled and advanced to third on a balk. After issuing a walk, Mayberry got Will Wagner to ground out and Whitcomb came in to score. The Missions lead was 4-3.

Michel Baez took over for the Missions in the top of the sixth inning and retired all three batters he faced. Jared Koenig entered the game in the top of the seventh inning for the save attempt. The left-hander walked Hamilton before striking out Gilbert. Koenig surrendered a single to Whitcomb to place the go-ahead run at first base. Joey Loperfido grounded into a force out and both runners advanced into scoring position. Wagner drew a walk and loaded the bases. With the bases loaded and two outs, Corona grounded out to end the game.

The game two pitching matchup was Jose Espada for the Missions against Peyton Plumlee for the Hooks. The Missions gained an early lead in the bottom of the first inning. Reyes drew a walk and Pedro Castellanos singled to start the frame. Juan Fernandez reached base on a fielder's choice and Reyes scored the first run of the game. San Antonio gained a 1-0 lead.

Corpus Christi had their first scoring opportunity in the top of the second inning. Corona drew a one-out walk and stole second base. Espada retired the next two batters to end the inning. His night was done after two innings of work and Henry Henry took over in the top of the third inning.

A defensive play from the Missions kept the Hooks off the scoreboard in the top of the fourth inning. Henry issued a leadoff walk to Loperfido who stole second base. Hamilton singled to center field and Loperfido attempted to score. Centerfield Ray-Patrick Didder threw out Loperfido at home for the first out of the inning. With two outs in the inning, Chad Stevens singled to put two runners on base. J.C. Correa grounded into a force out to end the inning.

The Hooks had another scoring chance in the top of the fifth inning. Facing Lake Bachar, Wagner hit a one-out single and Gilbert drew a walk. The right-hander struck out the next two batters to leave the runners stranded.

San Antonio had a chance to improve their lead in the bottom of the sixth inning. Facing Jose Betances, Castellanos started the frame with a double. Hollis replaced him as a pinch-runner. Michael De La Cruz hit a single and Hollis moved to third. Hollis scored on a passed ball from Correa. San Antonio held a 2-0 lead.

Bachar tossed two scoreless innings while allowing a hit and a walk. He struck out four batters before handing the ball off to Nick Hernandez for the top of the seventh inning. Hernandez issued a walk to Correa to start the inning. Garrett Wolforth flew out and Wagner grounded into a force out. With the tying run at the plate, Gilbert singled off the right field wall to score Wagner. Whitcomb stepped up to the plate representing the go-ahead run. Hernandez struck out Whitcomb to end the game.

The San Antonio Missions will wrap-up their homestand with the Corpus Christi Hooks on Sunday, May 14th. Left-hander Jackson Wolf (2-3, 5.40) is scheduled to pitch for the Missions. Right-hander Spencer Arrighetti (2-2, 6.93) is scheduled to pitch for the Hooks. First pitch is slated for 1:05 p.m. from Nelson Wolff Stadium.
