Rockford IceHogs News Release

Rockford, Ill.- The Rockford IceHogs, in conjunction with the United Hockey League, released the club's 2005-06 regular season schedule on Wednesday. The IceHogs seventh season will commence on Friday, October 21 at the Rockford MetroCentre, when the Hogs drop the puck against the Elmira Jackals. The new schedule also has Rockford slated to make an east coast swing for the first time in three seasons.

Rockford's schedule features a franchise high 28 Friday (16) and Saturday (12) games at the Rockford MetroCentre. The Hogs will also play six Wednesday contests and four on Sunday. The Rockford-Quad City rivalry will be renewed 13 times in 05-06, Rockford's most frequent opponent for the upcoming campaign.

‚¬Å“With 28 Fridays and Saturdays, this is easily the best home schedule for the IceHogs at the MetroCentre since the team relocated to Rockford from Thunder Bay in 1999, ‚¬Â said IceHogs General Manager Ryan Washatka. ‚¬Å“ We have been working with the staff at the MetroCentre over the past two years on ways we could enhance the IceHogs profitability by increasing building availability on Fridays and Saturdays.

‚¬Å“We are very fortunate that they were able to free up some more dates and that those dates fit into the league schedule for the upcoming season. ‚¬Â

The IceHogs will compete in the UHL's Western Division once again, along with the Quad City Mallards, Fort Wayne Komets and Missouri River Otters. Rockford will play the Otters 12 times and the Komets 10 times during the regular season.

For the second straight season, all 13 UHL teams will pay a visit to the Forest City. The Hogs will make their first trip east since the 2002-03 season to play the Eastern Division teams in March. Rockford opens the road trip in New York against Elmira on March 8 and will play the Adirondack Frostbite on March 10. Then for the first time in franchise history, the Hogs will visit the Danbury Trashers on March 11 and the Roanoke Valley Vipers on March 12. The only city that Rockford won't make a stop in is Richmond. The Hogs will however, play the RiverDogs twice at home.

Rockford's longest home stand straddles the New Year, spanning from Wednesday, December 28 through Saturday, January 7 and features six games, including a New Year's Eve contest against the Motor City Mechanics. The IceHogs longest stretch away from home includes two 19-day get aways from Sunday, January 22 until Friday, February 10 and once again from Sunday, February 26 to Friday, March 17. The Hogs longest road trip spans seven games from Sunday, February 26 through Sunday, March 12.

The regular season will conclude on Saturday, April 15, and the Hogs close out the schedule at home against the Muskegon Fury. Game times for the 05-06 schedule have yet to be released.

Season ticket packages are on sale and start at just $95. For more information about the IceHogs 2005-06 regular season schedule or IceHogs season tickets, contact the Hogs office at (815) 986-6465.
