Bakersfield Condors News Release
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Jamie Hodson stopped all 28 shots he faced, leading the Bakersfield Condors past the Las Vegas Wranglers, 3-0, Wednesday night, in front of 3,878 at Rabobank Arena. The win moved the Condors back past the Wranglers into first place in the Pacific Division.
The Condors (25-12-5, 55 points) broke in front midway through the first period, scoring twice in less than a minute. The first came when the Condors were short-handed, as Josh Liebenow converted a perfect pass from Kevin Truelson and beat Mike McKenna to make it 1- 0 at 10:05.
Just 52 seconds later, it was Andrew Ianiero beating McKenna, on a setup from Alex Kim and Sean Venedam, to make it 2-0. It was Ianiero's first goal in his last 12 games.
The Wranglers (22-9-10, 54 points) controlled period number two, firing 14 shots on goal, but Jamie Hodson stopped all 14 to maintain the two-goal lead.
In the third period, Hodson and the Condors continued to keep Las Vegas at bay, and Tyler Liebel sealed it with his first goal as a Condor, an empty-netter at 19:47.
Notes: Hodson is now 7-1-1 in his last eight outings, and 19-5-3 overall. It was his first shutout since 2003-04, when he played with the Greensboro Generals. The Condors went 9-2-2 in January.
The Condors head to Stockton Friday to take on the Thunder at 7:30 p.m. After that, they return for a five-game homestand, beginning with a visit from the Toledo Storm on Wednesday, February 7th at 7 p.m. It will be a CW Bakersfield and 106.1 KRAB Radio High School/College ID Night, and all high school and college students can get a ticket to the game for just a buck with their student ID.
