Machesney Recalled to Washington

N. Charleston, S.C. - The South Carolina Stingrays announced that rookie Daren Machesney has been recalled to the Washington Capitals of the National Hockey League.

Machesney was previously reassigned by the Capitals from the Hershey Bears to South Carolina this morning but will join Washington tonight in South Florida as the team takes on the Florida Panthers at 7:30 p.m. at the BankAtlantic Center.

The rookie goaltender was a fifth round draft pick (143rd overall) of Washington in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft and is under NHL contract to the Capitals. This is Machesney's second stint at the NHL after dressing in one game with Washington as back-up goaltender to Olie Kolzig.
