Augusta Lynx News Release

Augusta, GA - Joe Pereira scored twice and Ryan Lang added a shorthanded marker but it wasn't enough for the Augusta Lynx in a 4-3 loss to the Florida Everblades Thursday night.

Florida opened the scoring with a pair of goals 45 seconds apart to grab a 2-0 lead in the first. Jonathan Lehun won a battle along the boards and fired a wrist shot through traffic that beat Dave McKee low on the stick side at 11:27. Ryan Brindley followed that with his second of the season, jumping into the rush in time to catch a Jarrett Lukin pass and give Florida a two goal edge.

Back came Augusta, as the Lynx finally managed to score after a goalmouth scramble. Joe Pereira shot the puck through the pads on Craig Kowalski as it caromed in off the far post and across the goal line to get the Lynx on the board.

Ryan Lang evened the score with Augusta's 16th shorthanded goal of the year at 2:09, banking the puck in off a sprawling Kowalski to tie the game.

Later in the period, Pereira notched his second of the game when he fired a slap shot between the legs of Kowalski while breaking down the right wing for a 3-2 Lynx lead.

The Everblades would tie the score late in the frame on a Derek Damon goal at 18:45, setting the stage for the third period.

In the third, Lehun scored the game-winning goal at 8:06 of the third period for the only goal of the frame, finding a hole in a screen in front of the Lynx net with a wrist shot with help from Damon and Dustin Johner for the win.

Dave McKee stopped 15 shots in the loss while Craig Kowalski picked up his first win since January 6 with 26 saves.

The Lynx are back in action Friday night against the Alaska Aces, followed by a return bout with the Everblades on Saturday night. Both games face off at 7:35 pm, with tickets on sale through the Lynx office at (706) 724-4ICE, via all TicketMaster locations, and on line at www.TicketMaster.com. Seats are $18, $15, and $11, with discounts available for students, seniors, and military personnel.
