High Point-Thomasville HiToms News Release
THOMASVILLE, N.C. - Thomasville scored a pair of runs in the bottom of the seventh to take a 4-2 win over visiting Forest City on Wednesday night inside historic Finch Field.
Thomasville (10-11) entered the seventh even at two and got the first three men on against Seth Cutler-Voltz (L, 3-1). After a pitching change the HiToms broke the tie when the pitch from Brennan Hulse skipped away from PJ Torres allowing Patrick Koontz to score and give the Tommies a 3-2 lead. The advantage grew one hitter later as Tyler Hall squeezed home Cole Sturgeon and after seven it was 4-2 HiToms.
Forest City (14-8) put the go ahead run at first base with two outs in the ninth against Travis Tingle (W, 2-0), however, Konstantine Diamadorus bounced out to the pitcher for the final out of the game.
HiToms starting pitcher Brian Holmes didn't factor in the decision on this night but worked six strong innings allowing just two runs while striking out five. The left hander ended his night in dramatic fashion as he loaded the bases in the seventh but didn't allow the go ahead run to cross the plate.
Thomasville is back in action on Thursday night when they travel to Asheboro to battle the Copperheads at 7:05. The Tommies return to Finch Field on Saturday night at 7:00 when they welcome the Martinsville Mustangs to town.
