Hitmen Teammates Martin Jones And Brandon Kozun Both Named To Canada's National Junior Team

Calgary, AB - The Calgary Hitmen Hockey Club is proud to announce teammates Martin Jones and Brandon Kozun will both play for Team Canada at the 2010 World Junior Hockey Championship.

This is the seventh year in a row at least one member of the Calgary Hitmen has made Team Canada.

Kozun, a sixth round pick of the LA Kings in 2009, is one of 13 forwards named to the squad. The 19-year-old from Calgary currently leads the Hitmen and the Western Hockey League in scoring with 63 points (19g 44a) in 33 games.

Jones, a free agent signing of the LA Kings in 2008 is 15-5-0-0 this season with a 2.83 goal against average. Last season he backstopped the Hitmen to a franchise record 45 wins including seven shutouts.

Jones and Kozun become the 13th and 14th Hitmen in franchise history to play in the World Junior Hockey Championship joining the following players:

2001 - Pavel Brendl (Czech Republic), Toni Bader (Germany)

2002 - Fredrik Sjostrom (Sweden)

2003 - Fredrik Sjostrom (Sweden)

2004 - Ryan Getzlaf (Canada)

2005 - Ryan Getzlaf (Canada), Andrew Ladd (Canada)

2006 - Justin Pogge (Canada), Freddie Pettersson (Sweden)

2007 - Karl Alzner (Canada), Freddie Pettersson (Sweden)

2008 - Karl Alzner (Canada), Bostjan Golicic (Slovenia)

2009 - Brett Sonne (Canada), Bostjan Golicic (Slovenia)

2010 - Martin Jones (Canada), Brandon Kozun (Canada)

The 2010 IIHF World U20 Championship will be played in Saskatoon and Regina from December 26th, 2009 to January 5th, 2010.
