Everett Defeats Swift Current, 3-2

Everett, WA - Despite a two goal third period from Swift Current, the Everett Silvertips were able to hold on to a 3-2 victory Wednesday night over the Broncos. Kent Simpson stopped 18 of 20 shots faced, including a late flurry from Swift Current with an extra attacker. Chris Langkow and Daniel Iwanski both had one goal and one assist each Wednesday night while Shane Harper rounded out the scoring with his team leading 21st goal.

Everett started the scoring Wednesday night with back to back goals just 39 seconds apart. Iwanski grabbed the puck after a D. Jay McGrath faceoff win came to Iwanski's stick. Iwanski headed straight to the slot on his backhand beating Broncos goaltender Mark Friesen under his right pad for his fifth of the season at 12:20. Harper, after receiving a Langkow pass from behind the goal line, fired a hard snap shot under Friesen's right pad for his 21st of the year at 12:59.

The Silvertips kept their momentum going with Langkow's 11th of the season at 15:55 of the second period. The puck found its way to Langkow sitting on top of the crease from a scrum on Friesen's left to leave an open net and increase Everett's lead to 3-0.

Swift Current scored their first goal of the night at 8:06 of the first period. Cody Eakin scored his team leading 27th goal after winding up for a hard slap shot from the top of the left circle beating Simpson to make the score 3-1 in favor of Everett. Jordan Evans collected his first goal of the season on the power play at 15:38 to bring the broncos within one goal. Swift Current pulled Friesen with just over one minute to play, but thanks to strong goaltending from Simpson Everett was able to hold on to a 3-2 victory.

This brings the 'Tips record to 18-12-2-1 with 39 points in 33 games played. Everett comes back to Comcast Arena this Friday to take on the Tri-City Americans at 7:35 pm.
