Hitmen Sweep Medicine Hat

Medicine Hat, AB - The Calgary Hitmen completed a home-and-home sweep of Medicine Hat with a 5-3 win over the Tigers on Saturday night at Canalta Centre.

Captain Mark Kastelic netted his second hat-trick of the season in the come from behind victory. Trailing 3-2 after 40 minutes, the Hitmen struck for a trio of unanswered goals including a pair from Kastelic to give him 42 on the season.

Luke Coleman and Vladislav Yeryomenko added singles for the visitors with Egor Zamula chipping in a pair of assists.

Calgary outshot Medicine Hat 39-30 as goaltender Carl Stankowski made 27 saves to record the win.

The Hitmen, 9-2-1 in their last 12 games, move to within two points of the Tigers for third place in the Central Division.

Calgary now prepares to open a three-game East Division road trip in Brandon on Wednesday, Feb. 20. The swing will also take the Hitmen to Regina (Feb. 22) and Swift Current (Feb. 23) before returning to the "Dome to host the Broncos in a rematch on Feb. 27. The 11 a.m. start in Calgary is the TELUS BE BRAVE Anti-Bullying game.
