Hitmen Jake Bean and Beck Malenstyn Both on NHL Players to Watch List

Calgary, AB - The Calgary Hitmen Hockey Club is pleased to announce defenceman Jake Bean and forward Beck Malenstyn have both made the National Hockey League's players to watch list for September in advance of the 2016 NHL Draft.

The list is compiled by NHL Central Scouting Service and groups all the prospects by league giving each player an individual rating.

Bean, one of 40 players from the Western Hockey League on the list, received a "B" ranking which indicates a 2nd/3rd round candidate.

Malenstyn received a "C" ranking, indicating a 4th/5th/6th round candidate.

Both players were part of Team Canada's U18 gold medal winning squad at the 2015 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Cup in August.

HOMETOWN: Calgary, AB DOB: June 9, 1998 HEIGHT: 6'0" WEIGHT: 173 lbs.

ACQUIRED: Listed by Calgary on September 3, 2013.

BECK MALENSTYN - LEFT WING

HOMETOWN: Delta, BC DOB: February 4, 1998 HEIGHT: 6'2" WEIGHT: 191 lbs.

SHOOTS: Left

ACQUIRED: Selected by Calgary in the first round (18th overall) in the 2013 WHL Bantam Draft.

The 2016 NHL Draft will be held at First Niagara Center in Buffalo, New York on June 24-25.

The Hitmen return to action on Friday, Oct. 2 when they open a three-game East Division road trip in Brandon against the Wheat Kings. Radio Broadcast on Sportsnet 960-The Fan begins at 6:00 p.m. MT with a 30 minute pre-game show.
