Broncos Honour Hulak

September 29, 2015 - Western Hockey League (WHL)
Swift Current Broncos News Release

As part of the Western Hockey League's 50th Season celebrations, all WHL member Clubs will be presenting Alumni Achievement Awards to some of their most distinguished graduates, throughout the course of the 2015-16 season. The WHL Alumni Achievement Award is presented in two categories. The professional hockey category recognizes those graduates who have had a distinguished professional hockey career.

The other Alumni Achievement Award category recognizes WHL graduates who have experienced a highly successful business career through support received from the WHL Scholarship program as student athletes.

Previous recipients of these WHL Alumni Achievement Awards include former NHL and WHL greats, Lanny McDonald, Trevor Linden, Bob Clarke and many outstanding university graduates.

We honoured a former member of the Swift Current Broncos in the category of Scholastic achievement.

The recipient of the WHL Alumni Achievement Award in the Scholastic category was Dan Hulak.

Dan is a graduate of the University of Saskatchewan (with Great Distinction), and holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree with majors in both accounting and finance. He holds the Chartered Investment Manager (CIM) and the prestigious Fellow of CSI (FCSI) designations from the Canadian Securities Institute.

Dan was born and raised in Saskatoon, and he and his wife Dana have three daughters: Mckinley, Capri & Maisie.

Dan is a graduate of the Western Hockey League having spent four seasons with the Swift Current Broncos and Portland Winterhawks, before becoming an All-Canadian defenseman with the University of Saskatchewan Huskies. A draft pick of the Tampa Bay Lightning in 1998, Dan was also the Canadian Hockey League's Scholastic Player of the Year in 2001 and the recipient of the WHL Alumni Achievement Award in 2009.

Dan continuously gives back to the community through various fundraisers and volunteer activities. Dan currently sits on the Executive Committees of the Off the Leash Luncheon, the Men's Huskie Hockey Alumni, and the CIS University Cup Championships.

Congratulations Dan and thank you for your contributions to the Swift Current Broncos Hockey Club.
