Calgary, AB - The Calgary Hitmen Hockey Club today announced that $13,931 will be donated to the Four Feet Companion Foundation through a campaign established by Connor Rankin and Adam Tambellini in partnership with Pucks for Paws.

As part of the program, both players personally donated $5 for every point they collected during the regular season. In addition, the Calgary Hitmen Foundation and WEB Consulting Ltd., the proud sponsor of Pucks for Paws, each donated $20 per regular season point scored by Rankin and Tambellini. Tambellini finished the season with a team-leading 86 points while Rankin was next with 79.

"We cannot thank everyone enough for getting behind this campaign to help such a worthy cause," said Rankin, the recipient of the club's 2014-15 Humanitarian of the Year award.

"The money we have raised will go a long way to helping several deserving animals," added Tambellini, recently named the CHL Player of the Week and Denny's WHL Player of the Week. "Thank you to everyone who supported Pucks for Paws."

The Four Feet Companion Foundation gives financial grants and volunteer support to registered animal charities in Calgary and surrounding areas so they can continue to rescue, save lives and find forever homes for companion animals in Alberta while promoting responsible pet guardianship. The priority areas of funding are for homeless, abandoned or injured animals, spay and neuter initiatives, emergencies and education.

"I really wish I could find words to say thank you," said Four Feet Foundation volunteer Mirella Montgomery. "I would like to reiterate that all of us at Four Feet are truly indebted to your kindness. The lives of many animals will be helped."

In January, funds were also collected at both Buffalo Wild Wings Calgary locations when Rankin and Tambellini, along with teammates Jake Bean and Jake Virtanen, volunteered as guest servers. That evening they collected donations for Pucks for Paws and sold raffle tickets. In addition, Buffalo Wild Wings donated 15 per cent of pre-taxed food sales to the cause.

The final stage of the campaign saw a portion of the 50-50 proceeds from the Hitmen home game on Jan. 18 added to the funds raised.
