Vancouver Giants News Release
Vancouver, B.C. - The Vancouver Giants would like to congratulate forward Tyler Benson on being selected by Hockey Canada to participate in the pre-competition camp ahead of the upcoming 2015 U18 World Championships in Switzerland.
"It will be a great experience for Tyler," said Giants General Manager Scott Bonner. "He was one of our best players on most nights this past season, and to be recognized on a national level is a nice feather in his cap."
Hockey Canada announced its roster for the U18 Championships on Thursday. The team features seven WHL players while Benson was selected as an underage player for pre-competition play along with Lethbridge Hurricanes goaltender Stuart Skinner and Moose Jaw Warriors forward Brett Howden.
In his rookie year with the Giants, Benson, who was selected first overall in the 2013 WHL Bantam Draft, netted 14 goals and 31 assists in 62 games and won the Milan Ilich Award as the club's Rookie of the Year.
The 2015 U18 World Championships will run from April 16-26 in Zug and Lucerne, Switzerland. To see the full team roster, click here.
