Hitmen Forward Brett Sonne Signs Pro Contract With St. Louis Blues

Calgary, AB - The Calgary Hitmen Hockey Club would like to congratulate forward Brett Sonne on singing a pro contract with the St. Louis Blues.

Blues President John Davidson announced the signing today although terms were not disclosed.

Sonne was drafted by the Blues in the third round, 85th overall in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft. A native of Maple Ridge, British Columbia, the 19 year-old centre has appeared in 60 games with the Hitmen and is having a breakout season.

He currently sits third in the Western Hockey League in points (97), second in goals (47) and is tied for 12th in assists (50). The Hitmen assistant captain also leads the league in game winning goals with 11.

In addition, Sonne helped Canada's World Junior Team capture a gold medal at the 2009 World Junior Hockey Championship in Ottawa.

Sonne and the Hitmen will complete the 2008/09 WHL Regular Season this weekend with a pair of games on the road starting Saturday in Medicine Hat, followed by a trip into Lethbridge on Sunday.
